Elementary School

ART

• Kindergarten students
participate in literature-based class
• First grade students
participate in an artist-based class.
• Second through fifth grade
students use Meet the Masters
curriculum to participate in an
artist-based class. We generally
set this curriculum up where
one week we focus on the artist
and the next we create a
project in the style of that artist.

GEOGRAPHY

Our geography classes zoom in
on one or two continents each
year. They explore the five
themes of geography in a
hands-on and interactive way.
Kindergarten - North America
First - South America
Second - Australia, Antarctica
Third - Africa
Fourth - Asia
Fifth - Europe

SCIENCE

• Kindergarten students
participate in a class on the
human body (first semester)
and science through the days
of creation (second semester).
• First grade through fifth grade
students use the BJU science curriculum

• Class time is spent doing
experiments and cooperative
activities that may be difficult to do at home.

Middle School

The middle school classes build together to teach both literature both for literary analysis & enjoyment
of the books themselves. We may often read books that families have enjoyed together before, but as
a class, we interact with these pieces in a new and fresh way.

Comprehension exercises, not as busy work, but to see the art and detail of the stories themselves.
We study literary devices to determine the meaning within a text and to look at the greater narrative
scope that the author intended.

As the IMPACT literature scope focuses mostly on literature itself, we encourage you to add a writing
or composition class such as IEW or any other writing course at some point in the middle school
years. One additional recommendation would be that MS/ HS families add a daily or 3x per week
Grammar exercise such as Daily Grams, Easy Grammar, or something similar. Our literature classes
are not designed to be typical ‘English language arts’ classes, but when you add the grammar
and writing pieces at home– you get the well-rounded package that we find most families are
seeking in a homeschooling education. This approach differs from a traditional school
education, and that is by design.
